Dr Özlem Ögtem-Young won ‘Outstanding Research Impact by an Early Career Researcher’ category at the University's Research and Impact Awards Ceremony.

In recognition of her outstanding research impact, Dr Ögtem-Young was announced as the winner in the Early Career Researcher category.
Dr Ögtem-Young is the Research Theme Lead for Poverty, Precarity, Savings and Debt at CHASM. Her recent research into the experiences of the cost of living crisis of Castle Vale residents has transformed understanding of how the crisis affects low-income households, shaping housing association strategy, improving their support to tenants, and informing local and national policy.
Her evidence has influenced funding decisions, informed Parliamentary analysis, and strengthened community voice – helping to drive more inclusive, evidence-based responses to poverty and precarity.
