In January 2026, three TDs in Dáil Eireann (the lower House in the Irish parliament) – Ruth Coppinger, Paul Murphy and Richard Boyd Barrett – raised a new Private Member’s Bill: the Health (Regulation of Termination of Pregnancy) (Amendment) Bill 2026. The Bill proposes to delete subsections (3), (4) and (5) from section 12 of the Health (Regulation of Termination of Pregnancy) Act 2018.
