The University is delighted to share that Tony Langham has accepted the invitation for a three-year honorary professorship.

This appointment is a recognition of Tony’s continued support of the University of Birmingham and the Business School in particular. As part of his role our students and academics will be fortunate to share in his 40 years of expertise and experiences as a successful business leader and entrepreneur and one of the UK's leading reputation management and public relations advisers.
Tony co-founded Lansons in 1989 with his wife and business partner, Clare Parsons, and as Chief Executive helped build it into one of the UK's leading reputation management and public relations consultancies. He became Chair in January 2022 and continues an active consultancy role advising governments, organisations and companies. Lansons has been named UK PR agency of the year on over 30 occasions; has been carbon neutral since 2009 and named as one of the UK's 50 best SME workplaces for 19 years by Great Places to Work® Institute.
Tony has an active non-executive career outside Lansons. From 2016–2025, he was non-executive chairman of British Champions Series. He is chairman of Opinium, the leading research and insight company he founded in 2007 and an invested adviser at Tramlines, a venture capital investor and incubator of start-up AI businesses.
Speaking of his appointment, Professor Edgar Meyer, Dean of the Birmingham Business School said: “I want to congratulate Tony on his appointment and formally welcome him to the University of Birmingham. Each year since 2018 Tony has delivered a high-quality lecture and workshop to our Marketing students. Through this professorship, I know he will continue to add real value to our community of students and academics.”
Tony’s first book, Reputation Management: The Future of Public Relations and Corporate Communications, commissioned by ICCO and PRCA, was published by Emerald in 2018.
