The University of Birmingham’s School of Education is celebrating sixty years of excellence in teaching and research, with an evening showcasing the latest research developments in the subject.
The showpiece of the event on May 24 will be a lecture by Professor Michael Fullan, the former Dean of the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education. His lecture: “Beyond Turnaround Leadership” will focus on how schools can work with local and central government to make real improvements to education.
The programme will also include displays of current research from the University’s School of Education.
Professor Harber , Head of the School of Education, said: “During the sixty years since the School was founded the teaching of Education has changed immensely. However, education is still right at the top of the priority list for politicians both nationally and globally. The research we do helps inform policy on a huge range of issues including democracy and citizenship, special educational needs, teacher training and education in the developing world.”
The event will be held in the Vaughan Jeffries Lecture Theatre, School of Education on Wednesday May 24.
