A University of Birmingham sports scholar spent yesterday morning training with Olympic athlete, Tracy Morris.

BUSA Marathon winner Nicky Archer is preparing to go into her third year at the University, where she is studying for a degree in Sport and Exercise Science. The two athletes trained for just over an hour at the University’s Metchley Lane facility doing high tempo runs prior to a jog back to main campus and the athletics track for a warm down.

Tracy Morris competed for Great Britain at the 2004 Athens Olympics after being spotted by Bud Baldaro, UKA and Birmingham Athletics head coach. Tracy is now part of Bud’s Marathon group and joined Birmingham athletes to take part in this morning’s training with him.

Nicki says the standard of distance running and training with Bud has made a huge difference to her as a young athlete: “Working with Bud and the training group is great and the support of RLF, who sponsor the club, is really appreciated.”

Nicki is now working towards the BUSA cross-country and will be competing in BUSA short distance runs.
