Bring along your family heirlooms, household treasures and car boot bargains to Winterbourne’s very own antiques road-show and discover if you’re sitting on a goldmine.
Leading antiques and fine arts experts, from Birmingham’s Biddle & Webb’s auction house, will be on hand to offer free advice and valuations on anything from art, antiques, toys, collectables, militaria, silver and jewellery – or anything you think may be worth something!
As part of this one off event, visitors will be able to discover the human story behind their prized possessions and, get an opportunity to learn more about the historic items on display, which form part of Winterbourne’s distinguished period collection.
Alison Darby, Curator at Winterbourne, said: “Exploring the history, beauty and value of every item is what makes events like these so exhilarating. Everyone wants to know if they’re sitting on a fortune, which really adds to the excitement.”
There will be plenty of fun games to keep all the family entertained. From arts and crafts talks taking place and unusual antique objects on display in the ‘history mystery’ game.
Visitors can also have a go at valuing items from Winterbourne’s collection in ‘guess-the-price’ game and will have the chance to look around rooms which are usually closed to the general public.
The tea room will be serving delicious hot lunches from 12pm-3pm, with refreshments and cakes available all day.
The free event will run from 10 – 4pm, Saturday 20 November at Winterbourne House & Garden.
A £1 valuation charge per item will apply, with all proceeds going to the Friends of Winterbourne charitable cause.

The Friends of Winterbourne was formed in 1989 to preserve the House and Garden, supporting botanical education, training, research and conservation.
Normal opening hours are 10am – 4pm, entry to the house and this event is free, with garden entry charged at £4.50 for adults, £3.50 for concessions.
