Jazz musician Casey Greene to perform at Winterbourne House and Gardens

A musical maestro is set to take centre stage once again at the University of Birmingham’s unique heritage attraction for an evening of alfresco jazz music.

In the second instalment of Jazz by Candlelight, Sydney Conservatorium of Music graduate, Casey Greene will perform a two-hour set of original compositions and unique interpretations of classic jazz tunes set against the seven acre backdrop of the beautiful botanic gardens of Winterbourne House.

Following his appearance at the launch of Winterbourne’s summer outdoor entertainment programme at the beginning of June, alongside his Latin jazz band, Quiver, multi-instrumentalist Greene will return solo, with special guest Angel, on Saturday 23 July for an evening of traditional jazz music. Now based in the UK, Greene has been recording, writing and teaching music since 1985 and has previously toured with Ray Charles and Olivia Newton John and with various musical theatre productions.

Alison Darby, Head of Winterbourne House and Garden commented:

“We are really excited to be hosting Casey again after his immensely popular concerts with us last year and earlier this summer. Enjoying music in the open air in such stunning surroundings as Winterbourne’s garden is a rare opportunity in this city and something we are really pleased to be showcasing.”

Local resident, Angela Freezer, who attended Casey’s first Jazz by Candlelight evening earlier this summer, added:

“Casey Greene’s evening of jazz offers a thoroughly enjoyable evening for all ages. It is a great summertime tradition to enjoy a picnic in the grounds of Winterbourne with jazz music playing in the background.”

Jazz by Candlelight is taking place at Winterbourne House and Gardens on Saturday 23 July from 7.30pm. There will be an opportunity for visitors to explore the beautiful surroundings of the Edwardian house and gardens before the music begins and guests are invited to bring blankets and picnics. There will also be a bar open throughout the evening.

Tickets can be purchased at the door and are £15 per person with group discounts available. For advance ticket bookings, or for more information, please call 0121 414 9114, or visit www.winterbourne.org.uk and http://caseygreen.com.
