Employer Insights event series

Our employer-led events series titled ‘Employer Insights' offers you the opportunity to meet with our students on campus or virtually to share insights into your organisation, your industry sector and recruitment processes.

Whether you are recruiting to graduate roles, roles appropriate for candidates with postgraduate (Master’s or PhD) degrees, placements, internships or work experience opportunities available, our students are keen to hear from you.

Highlight your business and opportunities with us and tell our students what differentiates you from your competitors. Host a session on campus, a webinar with Q&A, or teach our students the skills they need to operate in your business by running an interactive session. Engage with smaller groups of students with one-to-one appointments or host a live chat, our online events platform Careers Connect can facilitate both of these options through our virtual events module. 

Our recent programme of events has ended for Spring 2024, however the Employer Relations Team offers a comprehensive service to help you engage with Birmingham’s brightest that allows for flexibility around your specific business needs. Share your experiences and expertise

We also have options to get involved with sector specific panel style events. These sessions are run in conjunction with University of Birmingham subject schools and colleges in response to student sector interests. Get involved; share your knowledge of your industry sector, your career journey and what it’s like to work in your job role.

In addition to hosting an event, share your insights into the labour market from the UK and internationally via video blogs, podcasts, webinars and skills building tools with our students.

How to engage students with an event

Host a webinar about your organisation

Promote your business and opportunities by hosting a webinar about your organisation and graduate opportunities on a platform of your choosing. Engage your audience, exchange information and leave a lasting impression with questions and answers. 

Host an event on campus

Students really benefit from meeting with employers face to face, whether you want to let students know about your organisation, opportunities you offer, host a drop-in or bring your coffee cart, pizza truck or tour bus onto campus! We work closely with the University’s Conference & Events team, so please get in touch to discuss your event with us.

Host a hybrid event

Our campus features dedicated spaces which are fully enabled and equipped for hybrid events. 

Deliver a virtual interactive workshop

Help develop the skills you want to see in your future workforce by delivering a virtual interactive workshop. Set activities to complete in advance, utilise virtual breakout rooms to challenge students with group tasks and get student input by building a poll into your session. 

Engage on a 1-1 or small group basis

Offer a number of bookable appointments, for a more personal interaction with individual or small groups of students. You could offer practice interviews or create a small project for students to work on as a group. Our online events platform Careers Connect can facilitate this option.

In addition we have a dedicated space which is available to hire for your event. Our Employer Training Room is ideally located in the Aston Webb Building near the Student Hub and is fully equipped for hybrid events, offering a flexible space which is designed to work around you.
