What you need to do next

✓ Accept your offer

If you decide to accept your offer, a contract will be formed between you and the University. It is important that you read the information contained in the student contract. It contains your rights and obligations to the University and the University's obligations to you.  This information is displayed within the ‘Respond to Offer’ link within your applicant portal.

Applicant information

To accept and secure your place, you must respond to your offer by the date stated in your offer letter. This deadline refers to your acceptance of the offer, not the fulfilment of conditions. To respond to the offer, click on the ‘Respond to Offer’ link within your applicant portal.

If you think you will be unable to respond by this date, please contact us and we will be able to extend the time available. However, if you fail to respond by this deadline your offer may be declined on your behalf.

If you have applied to Teacher Training or MA Social Work programmes, please follow the alternative advice for acceptance.

✓ Submit any outstanding documents to meet the conditions of your offer

When your degree results are known, please send a certified photocopy confirming this. If you have already obtained your degree we may also ask for a certified photocopy of a transcript or certificate as confirmation. A photocopy without original certification stamps will not be acceptable.

There are a small number of programmes that require you to submit original documents and your offer letter will state this if this is one of your requirements.

Please follow the guidance on your offer letter to ensure you submit the correct documents and complete all the necessary requirements.

If you are an International student and must meet an English language condition as part of your offer, you can meet these conditions by taking one of our pre-sessional programmes.

✓ Pay your deposit

International students issued an offer to study a taught postgraduate programme are required to pay a non-refundable tuition fee deposit of £2,000 to secure their place. The deposit payment will be deducted from the tuition fee at registration. You will be required to pay this deposit before your offer can progress and you can register with us. You can follow the link in your applicant portal to pay this deposit.

✓ Complete Online Registration

If you have accepted your offer, met the conditions and received your unconditional acceptance notification via the applicant portal, you will receive a communication from the University before the start of your programme (from July onwards) regarding Online Registration.

This email will include your registration details (such as where and how to register) and other important information about the start of term.

✓ Apply for your visa

International students (from outside the European Economic Area or Switzerland) need a visa (entry clearance) to study in the UK. Students requiring a Tier 4 (General) visa will need to apply before coming to the UK.

Find out more about applying for a visa and follow our guidance to ensure you follow the correct procedure.

Our International Student Team (IST) offers specialist help and advice on a wide range of issues including immigration, finance and family concerns. IST can also help you clarify your tuition fee status and eligibility for student support and part-time work.
