The European Society of Coloproctology (ESCP) has strong links with the University of Birmingham through BiSTC Directors, the Academic Department of Surgery at the University of Birmingham, and the Birmingham Clinical Trials Unit. The BiSTC REDCap system is used to host the ESCP audits.

The 2019 ESCP audit is the MASC study which focuses on the management of patients with acute severe ulcerative colitis. The study is currently recruiting and open to new teams.
