Taught Postgraduate Research (MSc/PGDip)
The Health Economics Unit offers two distinctive courses at MSc level. The long-established course in Health Economics and Health Policy does not require an economics degree and is open to both full time and part time students. More recently, the Unit has started to offer a course in Health Economics and Econometrics combining Health Economics modules taught by the Unit, with Economics modules taught by the Department of Economics. This course is only available to full time students. Currently, there are three funded studentships each year for this course funded by the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR).
The major strength of these courses is that students from a wide variety of backgrounds are able to mix during the teaching weeks: as well as students who have recently completed a first degree, there are students who work in the health service either as clinicians or managers as well as students working for consultancies or in the pharmaceutical industry.

Stand alone courses
A number of our MSc modules can be taken as stand alone courses if required. Attending a module on a stand alone basis means it will not be assessed and no credits will be awarded. Each stand alone course has prerequisites which must be met before they can be taken. All applicants will be required to discuss eligibility with the Course Director at the time of applying.
