Meetings

The annual PD Trials Collaborators' Meetings usually bring together well over 100 doctors, nurses, therapists and research staff for updates and results from our portfolio of trials. Slides and further details are available below.

Links to available presentation slides can be found below, ordered by year. If you wish to use any of the slides for any reason other than personal reference (i.e. in a presentation, newsletter) then please contact us at the Neuroscience Trials Office on 0121 415 9129 before doing so.

2018 Meetings

The most recent SLT Day for PD COMM was held on the 21st November in Glasgow.  We were very pleased to see great attendance from across the country, and feedback from the day suggests it was very well received - thank-you to those wo were able to make it up - we hope you found it both useful and enjoyable.

For those unable to attend, or for those who would like to recap, most of the talks given on the day were filmed, and have been provided below (links updated as and when talks become available):

  • What the research literature says about language changes in Parkinson's disease: are they linguistic, the result of changes to other cognitive processes, or both? A talk by Rebecca Wagstaff.
  • Results from a 2016 survey on the use of technology in adult acquired dysarthria: What tools are available in SLT clinics? How useful do clinicians find these? What barriers do they experience? A talk by Dr Anja Kuschmann.
  • How healthcare professionals understand their practice: comparing what they say, what they do, and what they write in case notes.  A talk by Dr Sally Boa with Dr Avril Nicoll.
  • Contrasting experiences of PD COMM SLTs: an opportunity to reflect.  A talk by Maria Caulfield.
