PhD Students

Aldrin Loomes

Aldrin is interested in the multisensory processing of tactile information and how this changes as one or more of our senses decline. During his PhD research, he investigated the effects of ageing on tactile perception and how information from touch is processed in the brain, and the involvement of brain areas associated with vision and audition in tactile processing. He uses psychophysics methods alongside functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI) to examine both behavioural and cortical processing aspects of multisensory perception.

Zhuojun Yin

Her PhD research examines the effect of aging on touch perception, with a particular focus on vibration perception. She uses a combination of psychophysical and neuroimaging methods to explore the perceptual and brain mechanisms involved in processing touch.

Research assistant

Simran Khera

Simran aspires to become a clinical neuropsychologist, assessing and rehabilitating individuals with brain injuries. Currently, she works in the Active Touch Lab, assisting in the testing of touch and balance abilities in older adults and neuropathy patients
