Grid Energy Storage PDFProduced by the Supergen Energy Storage Network Plus, the report explores UK's research funding landscape for energy storage technologies, and makes a case for investment in longer duration storage, including medium-duration (MDES) technologies of 4-200 hours' discharge. Considering that more than 90% of all energy served into a net-zero electricity grid would rely on MDES, this needs to become a key commitment to support decarbonisation and energy security, and prevent blackouts and spiralling constraint costs.
