National Sustainable Robotics Centre

The National Sustainable Robotics Centre (NSRC) is a state-of-the-art facility, dedicated to advanced robotics solutions for challenges of major societal and economic importance. Located at the Birmingham Energy Innovation Centre in Tyseley Energy Park, the NSRC includes a nationally unique, full-scale industrial robot test-bed, attached to University of Birmingham’s Extreme Robotics Lab. Applications include: disassembly of complex end-of-life products for recycling and circular economy; nuclear operations and decommissioning; and sustainable manufacturing challenges.

About us
The National Sustainable Robotics Centre (NSRC) is an industrial-scale research facility that serves as a vital bridge between academia and industry.

Disassembly of EV batteries using advanced robotics-AI
The NSRC excels in the meticulous disassembly of Electric Vehicle Batteries, taking them apart from the pack level down to the cell level.

Birmingham Extreme Robotics Lab (ERL)
We take cutting-edge multi-disciplinary Robotics and AI (RAI) research and apply these methods to real-world engineering problems.
