CHASM team member Maxine Watkins was excited to meet Liberal Democrat leader Sir Ed Davey and MP Alison Bennett at the Greenwich Carers Centre, where they both joined in with playing a giant board game called ‘Mind the Gap’. This life size, interactive game was developed by the Centre for Care and Carers UK. As players move around the board they learn about the inequalities encountered by unpaid carers, navigating ‘barrier’ and ‘chance’ cards which each demonstrate the challenges that unpaid carers can experience. Content of the game was informed by findings from a study conducted by Louise Overton and Maxine Watkins exploring the experience of unpaid carers and the impact of caring on financial wellbeing. The game was played alongside an audience of unpaid carers who contributed throughout sharing their lived experience and encouraging the players. Good fun was had by all!
