Amira Hosny

Neurological Physiotherapist

Amira is a neurological physiotherapist with a special interest in treating stroke patients using neurorehabilitation technology. She is currently acting as the clinic supervisor and physiotherapist for ‘Physio for Stroke’ where her work will be focused on developing the student-led clinic, supervising students, and treating stroke outpatients.

She graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy from the University of Birmingham after which she completed her clinical rotations at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust and then joined a private neurorehabilitation hospital, working with a variety of neurological patients and regularly utilizing neurorehabilitation technologies such as robotics and virtual reality. She is a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy and is HCPC registered.

Carolyn Toney

Carolyn has almost 20 year’s University experience and has gained a range of skills and experience from working in both the public and private sector. Carolyn enjoys problem solving, multi-tasking and relationship building and her previous roles have included events management, employer networking, marketing communication, student recruitment and engagement.

James Watson BSc / MSc 

MoveWell Laboratory Manager

James brings extensive experience in managing research laboratories and clinics within the field of Sport, Exercise and Rehabilitation Sciences. With a strong background in clinical exercise physiology, biomechanics and data analysis, he ensures the smooth operation of cutting-edge equipment and supports both staff and students in conducting innovative research. James also manages the physiotherapy clinics and laboratories at the Centre of Movement and Wellbeing. He provides technical and operational support to ensure the clinics run smoothly, contributing to a high-quality learning experience for students and effective service delivery for patients. His expertise spans lab safety, technical troubleshooting, equipment calibration, and experimental design, making him an essential resource for facilitating impactful scientific inquiry. James is passionate about fostering a collaborative and efficient lab environment that drives excellence in both teaching, service delivery and research.

Qualifications:

  • Active IQ Level 2 Gym Instructor
  • Active IQ Level 3 Diploma in Exercise Referral
  • BSc Sport and Exercise Science (First Class Honours)
  • MSc Clinical Exercise Physiology (Commendation)
  • NEBOSH National General Certification in Occupational Health and Safety
