Movement and Wellbeing for people living with dementia
Thousands of people caring for loved ones with dementia often experience a lack of support and rates of dementia are projected to increase to over 1.4 million by 2040, with one in two of us expected to be affected in our lifetime, either by developing dementia or caring for someone with it, or both.
A collaborative and co-authored report by Dr Rachel Fox from the Royal Voluntary Service and Dr Richard Elsworthy, Assistant Professor at The University of Birmingham, highlights the gaps in dementia support across Britain and brings to light the realities of living with dementia for individuals and their caregivers.
Research and data studies show that in-person support groups make a huge difference to those affected by dementia. Unfortunately, access to support like this can be extremely limited or in some cases, not available at all.
MoveWell are therefore collaborating with the Royal Voluntary Service and Alzheimer’s Research UK Midlands Network to offer a Movement and Wellbeing service that will help to support those in the local community.
This service is free of charge and includes:
- Social activities in a relaxed and friendly environment
- Cognitive stimulation activities
- Movement and wellbeing support from trained physiotherapists
- Opportunities to contribute to future research design
To register your interest in joining us for these support sessions please complete the self-referral form below. We will then contact you to discuss in more detail.
