Movewell Joint Health Programme
Joint pain and arthritis are common conditions that affect over 10 million people in the UK. Arthritis is a condition characterised by painful, stiff or restricted joints, often resulting from the breakdown of cartilage and inflammation of the joint lining. These symptoms are common in a range of conditions including osteoarthritis (OA), axial spondyloarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis and gout.
Clinical trials have shown that the following have been extremely beneficial in the management of joint pain:
- Regular low impact exercise
- Resistance training
- Improving Cardiovascular fitness
- Diet and nutrition to manage weight and help keep joints healthy
- Meditation and relaxation to assist pain management
The MoveWell Centre offers a Joint Health Programme to work with and enable participants to manage and improve joint pain.
The programme consists of:
- An individual assessment with one of our highly skilled and experienced resident Physiotherapists
- A 6-week intervention program of exercise sessions and education/discussion.
- A follow up review/assessment
- Optional ongoing access to the gym facilities in MoveWell
All exercise sessions will be supervised by resident physiotherapists and student physiotherapists who have work placements in MoveWell as part of their University of Birmingham degree programme.
Pricing
Initial Assessment – Free
Intervention Programme 1-hour session for 6 weeks. Each session will consist of floor and machine exercises (40 minutes) & Education/Discussion (20 minutes). One session per week - £5.00 per session.
Follow-up review/Assessment – Free
Optional ongoing access to the gym facilities in MoveWell - £5.00 per session
We accept card or contactless payments, to be made at the end of each appointment. We do not accept cash payments.
Cancellation policy
Our time and availability are very important to us and our customers. If you have to change or cancel an appointment, please provide us with at least 24 hours notice by calling us on 0121 414 3224 or emailing us at movewellcentre@contacts.bham.ac.uk.
If you do not notify us of any changes before then, we may need to charge for the session in full.
