You won’t be surprised to hear we have been closely watching the evolving guidance around face-to-face events over the last few weeks and have come to the conclusion it is very unlikely we will be able to meet as usual for our annual conference this year on 2 July. We have there decided to take the event fully online.

Our theme for the event - Financial Wellbeing: Risk and Reward in Contemporary Society - won’t however change. The need to examine the emerging issues and challenges of how we will in future balance financial risks and financial rewards across our society more effectively has been brought into sharp focus over the events of Covid-19. At this event we will look to tackle this debate head-on and have asked each of our three keynote speakers to address different aspects of these challenges.

Our three speakers are:

  • Danielle Walker Palmour – Director of Friends’ Provident Foundation
  • Professor Tom Shapiro – David R. Pokross Professor of Law and Social Policy at the Heller School for Social Policy, Brandeis University, USA
  • The Lord Bishop of Birmingham, the Right Reverend David Urquhart

Full bios of our speakers, and further details on this event can be found on our website – https://www.birmingham.ac.uk/research/chasm/events/2020/chasm-conference.aspx

Each pre-recorded presentation and interview will be Premiered via the CHASM Youtube channel at a specific time during the day and we will follow these presentations with live Q&A sessions with each speaker.

We very much hope you will be able to join us for some, if not all, of this event.

Specific timings for Premiere of these talks and the live Q&As to follow are to be confirmed. If you would like to be provided with these details as they become available, please email Helen Harris – h.m.a.harris@bham.ac.uk.

We very much look forward to welcoming you to this event.
