Research projects

A lot of the research that the Housing and Communities Research Group undertakes is directly related to policy, or particularly to activities that housing organisations themselves are involved in. Our Housing and Communities Research Network meets regularly to hear presentations about new research.

Research partnerships

The Housing and Communities Research Group places a high value on our research partnerships as part of its core mission. We have a track-record of practical impact as well as academic excellence, and see our close relationships with practitioner partners as central to our broader research agenda.

We are actively involved in longer term research projects on our core themes and fields of interest including:

  • Housing solutions for low and middle income communities
  • Social housing, community led housing, self-help housing and co-operatives
  • Homelessness, young peoples' housing options, youth homelessness
  • Generation rent - the expanding role of private renting for younger households
  • Renewing older housing and empty homes
