On 14 February, the long-running and popular Critical Sexology seminar, originally based in London, and more recently in the North, came to the Midlands with an afternoon-long seminar at University of Birmingham on "Rethinking Foucault for 21st-Century Sexuality Studies".

The speakers were Dr Romana Byrne (independent scholar), Dr Oliver Davis (University of Warwick), and Dr Emma Foster (University of Birmingham). The seminar was convened and the discussion led by Professor Lisa Downing, Professor of French Discourses of Sexuality, who has co-organised the Critical Sexology series for the past eight years.
