HTI Seminar: Mud in the blood: the role of protein minteral complexes in biomineralization by Professor Wilhelm Jahnen-Dechent

Tuesday 16 April 2024, 12:45 - 13:30
Location: Lecture Theatre | Ground Floor | Institute of Translational Medicine |  5 on the UHB map (PDF)

We are delighted to invite you to attend the next HTI Seminar by Professor Wilhelm Jahnen-Dechent | Professor of Cell and Molecular Biology at RWTH Aachen.

Bio: Willi Jahnen-Dechent has been a professor of cell and molecular biology at interfaces at RWTH Aachen since 1999. He is one of seven directors at the Helmholtz Institute for Biomedical Engineering, an interfacultative institute at RWTH Aachen University. Willi Jahnen-Dechent has published over 80 original scientific papers on the structure and function of proteins. He has investigated molecular aspects in the areas of phytopathology, plant breeding, cell-material interaction, internal medicine and biotechnology. His current work has two main focuses: the function and biology of the fetuin family of proteins and the interaction of cells and tissues with materials. The practical consequences of his work concern the behavior of implants and nanomaterials in the body, but also common diseases such as arteriosclerosis and calcification.

No registration required.

TCES // Joint CDT Conference 2024

19-21 June 2024
Location: James McCune Smith Learning Hub | University of Glasgow | G12 8QQ

The 2024 Tissue and Cell Engineering Society Conference will be hosted by the Centre for the Cellular Microenvironment (CeMi) at the University of Glasgow by Prof Matthew Dalby and Prof Manuel Salmeron-Sanchez with Michelle Carmichael and Aimee Soare (lifETIME Centre for Doctoral Training) and Claire Carberry (CeMi). This year the conference will again be combined with the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) Centres for Doctoral Training (CDT).

The Joint TCES and CDT Conference will take place over three days from 19th – 21st June 2024. The event will have in person presentations from International and UK keynote speakers in the cell and tissue engineering field with themes crossing the multiple areas such as bioengineered models, mechanobiology, enabling technologies and biomaterials.
