Early Career Researcher

We have a strong and dynamic community of researchers who are supported by resources designed to develop careers which lead to independent research programmes. Our staff have been nurtured and mentored to help fellowship success with research councils, the NIHR, european programmes, and other funding sources. If you are an enthusiastic researcher with ambition, a clear track record and innovative ideas then we welcome your enquiry. Please contact Professor Elizabeth Sapey, Institute Director, for informal enquiries regarding postdoctoral or independent investigator fellowships. We can even help you identify funders and put together a competitive fellowship proposal.

These are tailored to the following groups:

  • PhD students preparing to embark on their postdoctoral training
    • Foundation fellowships (usually open to PhD students in their final year, or within one year of PhD completion)
  • Postdoctoral researchers looking to secure independent funding
    • Intermediate, Career Development, Senior Research Fellowships
    • Return to research / career break fellowships
    • Travelling fellowship to visit external labs
    • Travel awards for attending conferences
  • Clinicians interested in academic medicine (currently working in the NHS / European Union)
