Lore and Disorder

2- 23 September, Centrala

Lore + (Dis)order is a new sciart exhibition celebrating collaborations between scientists and artists working with the Centre for Systems Modelling and Quantitative Biomedicine (SMQB) at University of Birmingham.

It features the work of 8 SMQB Artists in Residence who have produced creative responses to new contemporary research at the interface of biomedicine and quantitative science. For example, projects where mathematical approaches are being used to better understand or manage particular health conditions or biological processes. Many of the artworks have also been inspired and informed by the lived experiences of people with the health conditions studied in the research – in some cases, the artists themselves have been directly impacted by these conditions. The result is an eclectic, personal and thought-provoking collection of pieces that highlight the value of interdisciplinary perspectives in all our lives.

Join the artists and scientists at Centrala gallery for the exhibition launch night on Friday 2 September (coinciding with Digbeth First Friday) or visit the gallery on Wednesdays to Saturdays between 2-23 September. For more information, see our webpage.
