Recommendations
‘Conversion Therapy’ and the University of Birmingham c.1966-1983
As a direct result of the findings of the June 2022 Report, ''Conversion Therapy' and the University of Birmingham, c.1966-1983', the Steering Group made a series of recommendations for change at the University of Birmingham.
These recommendations centre on making an apology, creating this website and facilitating historical research, and developing ways of expanding and surpassing the University’s existing commitment to LGBTQ+ students, staff and the wider community, as well as Equality, Diversity and Inclusion.
The University Executive Board has accepted the recommendations made for action related specifically to this history and its direct aftermath. Ongoing work continues around developing support for LGBTQ+ communities at the University of Birmingham
