Teaching and learning in HEU

Taught Postgraduate Research (MSc/PGDip)

The Health Economics Unit offers two distinctive MSc-level courses. The first is the long-established MSc Health Economics and Health Policy, which does not require a degree in economics and is open to both full-time and part-time students. The second is the MSc Health Economics and Econometrics, which combines health economics modules taught by the Unit with economics modules delivered by the Department of Economics. This course is available exclusively to full-time students.

Both courses attract students from a wide variety of backgrounds, including recent graduates and those currently working in the health service, consultancies, the pharmaceutical sector, as well as International organisations.

The MSc programmes prepare students to have a competitive advantage in careers such as consultancy, the pharmaceutical industry and governmental and non-governmental bodies in the UK and internationally. Students can also progress to teaching and research positions at academic institutions.

For enquiries about the Health Economics MSc programmes, please contact the Teaching Admin Team or Dr Raymond Oppong (Programme Lead).

Short courses

A number of our MSc modules can be taken as stand alone courses if required. Attending a module on a stand alone basis means it will not be assessed and no credits will be awarded. Each stand alone course has prerequisites which must be met before they can be taken. All applicants will be required to discuss eligibility with the Course Director at the time of applying. Please see individual module descriptions for fee information. Sign up for these via the online shop - links below.

For enquiries about taking a Stand Alone Course, please contact Dr Jesse Kigozi (Deputy Programme Lead).
