Colin Flack, Chairman of the Rail Alliance and Alex Burrows, Business Director, BCRRE shake hands after signing a Memorandum of Understanding

The University of Birmingham’s Centre for Railway Research and Education (BCRRE) has close relationships with the rail industry, ensuring that research and teaching draws on real-world situations. This includes forging strong relationships with SMEs for the benefit of the railway supply chain.

BCRRE is delighted to announce that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Rail Alliance Limited. Talks are underway with a view to taking responsibility for running some of the activities of Rail Alliance, particularly a strong guidance and support structure for members, building a sound network connecting members with new technologies and the advice needed to grow effectively and develop member organisations successfully, encouraging excellence and profitability.

BCRRE will benefit from Rail Alliance’s expertise and many years of experience in this area. Potentially, Rail Alliance staff may join the BCRRE team and help to strengthen the Centre's collaborations with SMEs.
