Today we mark the tenth anniversary of the establishment of TSRC.

We were set up through a joint initiative between the Barrow Cadbury Trust, the Office for the Third Sector (subsequently renamed the Office for Civil Society) and the Economic and Social Research Council; in early 2009 we began to hire researchers in significant numbers and that is why we mark the anniversary now.

Today we are holding an event jointly with Birmingham Voluntary Services Council at their offices in Digbeth, central Birmingham, which we see as an opportunity both to re-engage with long-term supporters and and also to reach out to new collaborators. We are showcasing research from our ongoing funded projects but we will be using these to spark off a conversation with participants about the relevance of this research, the practical lessons for the third sector’s stakeholders, and possible future research directions.

We are simultaneously launching two free-to-access collections of articles from TSRC’s work over the past decade. The largest of these is courtesy of Policy Press, with whom we have worked closely in the development of the journal, Voluntary Sector Review. This blog on the Policy Press website will take you to a list of around 30 articles which we have published since 2010 – scroll down to find them! We are also grateful to the editors of Voluntas, who have also made available a set of nine of our outputs, through this link.  A further collection, from Sage, including articles from a range of their journals, will follow shortly.

Our updated website also contains news of our current activities – see www.tsrc.ac.uk, noting that it may not be “live” in its new format until 14th February, and of course please follow our twitter feed, @3rdsectorrc, #tsrc10, for further news. Over the next few weeks we will publish reflections on the conference and on key themes of our work and its impacts since 2009. Watch this space!
