Department of Management

With over 90 staff members, the Department of Management is one of the largest in the Business School. It is certainly the most varied in terms of the range of research, teaching and impact undertaken by its faculty. In pursuing excellence in our professional practices, the Department is dedicated to make it one of the best and welcoming places where management academics from different countries and backgrounds can thrive in a context of equality, diversity and inclusion.

Many Departmental members are engaged in research, teaching and impact for a responsible future, in line with the wider strategy of Birmingham Business School. In so doing, faculty members seek to have a positive influence on responsible business policy and practice in organisations and wider society. This relates to ethical organisational practices and raising awareness of the wider implications of sustainability for people and planet; for example, avoiding pursuit of maximising profit to the detriment of social and environmental obligations.

We are organised into four subject groups:

Each of which contributes teaching and learning outcomes and research insights to enhance understanding of key domains within the broader sphere of management.
