Dr Tom Lockwood gave the prestigious Chatterton Lecture at the British Academy on Monday 19th October, as part of the Academy’s Literature Week.  His lecture took Sir Herbert Grierson’s celebrated 1912 edition of Donne’s poems as a decisive reshaping of Donne as a manuscript poet for the twentieth century, and went on to explore the later lives of Donne and his works, in manuscript and in print and by different audiences.
