Final-year students on English Literature and English Language courses were invited to participate in a Research Poster Conference, creating and presenting a poster which demonstrated the research they were undertaking for their dissertations or research projects.

This gave students an excellent opportunity to test their ideas as well as enabling them to improve their understanding of how to articulate and communicate their research to others. It also gave students the opportunity to really engage with the research culture of the Department, sharing ideas and gaining feedback and expert advice on their projects. Students found this opportunity exciting and beneficial as it allowed them to share their passion for their subject whilst also consolidating their arguments for their writing.

The conference was won by Tara Benham with a poster and presentation demonstrating her research on the considerations and implications of reconsidering the genre of Ada Leverson’s The Little Ottleys Trilogy. Here is her poster and also those of our two runners up:
