The University of Birmingham has been ranked in the top ten English departments in the UK in the latest results from three major league tables: the Times and Sunday Times, Complete University Guide, and the Guardian.
English has risen up the league tables, jumping five places in the Complete University Guide and the Guardian and ten places in the Times and Sunday Times.
The league tables rank institutions based on a variety of factors including student satisfaction, research quality, investment in facilities and graduate prospects, focused primarily on undergraduate provision.
The department’s recent performance reflects its consistently excellent record of employment - with over 90% of its graduates in jobs or further study six months after graduation – and outstanding results in the latest Research Excellence Framework exercise.
