Susan Hunston and Paul Thompson been invited as keynote speakers at the CLAVIER (Corpus and Language Variation in English Research) International Conference in Bari, Italy, 30 November to 2 December 2017.
The conference focuses on specialised knowledge and ways in which specialised knowledge is represented and redefined, and brings together researchers who combine corpus and discourse analytic methodologies.
Susan Hunston will be talking about ‘The role of epistemic status in environmental science’ and the title of Paul Thompson’s paper is ‘A corpus perspective on disciplines and disciplinarity’. Both papers draw on research that Susan and Paul conducted for their ESRC-funded project, ‘Investigating interdisciplinary research discourse: the case of Global Environmental Change’, 2013-2015
