Film Studies is part of the Department of Film and Creative Writing – an exciting combination of two dynamic and successful disciplines that is committed to creative and critical practice in teaching and research.

We are committed to bringing our students into contact with key industry professionals through activities such as work placements, visiting guest lectures, festivals and dedicated workshop sessions.

Employability is a central value running through our MA Film and Television: Research and Production; a uniquely constructed programme which explores theoretical and critical engagement in equal measure alongside hands-on, technical training and an industry placement.

I chose to study my Master’s in Film and Television: Research and Production at Birmingham because I wanted a course that would challenge me both theoretically and practically.
