The overall winner from this years Images of Research Exhibition, hosted by the University Graduate School in connection with the 2014 Arts and Science Festival, has been awarded to Hannah Hames, a PhD student here in the School of Education. The competition challenges the University’s postgraduate researchers to encapsulate their research in just one image.

Her winning image Portrait of the Female Art Teacher: A Digital Sampler, contains ten self-portraits by female art teachers working across England and draws upon the history of female art educators which dates back to the 19th century. Her research thesis is entitled Who is the art teacher and why do so many young women want to be her?
