Phil Jones has successfully led two bids to the AHRC’s Connected Communities scheme. The first project, worth £1.49m, is working with scholars from the Universities of Salford, Liverpool John Moores and Cardiff as well as BCU and City University, to investigate practices of cultural intermediation in Birmingham and Manchester. For more information see the project blog.

The second, worth £40k, will develop a smartphone app to allow communities to map their neighbourhoods, responding to new initiatives on grassroots planning forming part of the government’s localism agenda.
