Gees Times ranking

The Times Good University Guide 2019 ranks ‘Geography and Environmental Studies’ at the University of Birmingham 9th in the UK, moving up 10 places since 2018.

The news follows on from a number of recent successes for the School of Geography, Earth and Environmental Sciences, including The Guardian 2019 University Guide placing our ‘Earth Sciences’ courses 4th in the UK, the latest Destinations of Leavers from HE survey (DLHE) ranking our Geography programmes first for graduate employability in the Russell Group, and the 2018 National Student Survey placing our Human Geography programmes first in the Russell Group for overall satisfaction.

Professor William Bloss, Head of the School of Geography, Earth and Environmental Sciences, said:

“We are delighted to see the quality of our teaching recognised in the latest Times / Sunday Times league tables, which comes on the back of the University’s Gold TEF award, and the opportunities for our students emphasised by the latest Graduate Employability data (summer 2018) which ranked our Geography and Planning programmes equal top in the Russell Group.”
