The Ideaslab podcast talks to Dr Gideon Nisbet in the department of Classics and Ancient History at the University of Birmingham.

Gideon’s research looks at the reception of Ancient Greece and Rome in modern culture including film, television and computer games. Gideon describes how many of the games we play and the films we watch shape our perception of the ancient past. ‘We need to tell stories, that is how we understand the past, or versions of the past, but by telling those stories, we are also making up the past.’ What’s next for the ancient past in the modern world?
