2013 sees the incorporation of the Centre of West African Studies (CWAS) into a larger Department of African Studies and Anthropology (DASA).

The creation of DASA will formalise the long-established expansion of our teaching, research and supervision beyond West Africa to include the entire African continent and its diasporas, and the growing place of Anthropology in our departmental expertise and teaching.

CWAS will continue to be an integral part of our Department as a centre promoting the development and dissemination of specifically West African-focused research.
