Dr Alexander Orakhelashvili has presented a paper at the conference dedicated to the launch of Constituting Europe (G Ulfstein & A Follesdal ed., CUP 2013), held at Middle Temple, London on 3 October 2013.

The presentation concentrated on the way the European Court of Human Rights deals with various sources of law in their multi-level context, especially the issues of the proper implementation of the European Convention on Human Rights in the face of conflicting normative claims arising in the area of the law of State immunity and the operation of UN Security Council resolutions. Co-panellists included Mr Justice Tugendhat (High Court), Lady Justice Arden (Court of Appeal), David Anderson QC (Independent Reviewer of Anti-terrorism Legislation), Professors M Andenas (Oslo), J Tasioulas (UCL), P Leach (Middlesex), and L Besselink (Amsterdam).
