Dr Hilary Brown, currently a Fellow of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, attended a reception with Bundespräsident Frank-Walter Steinmeier at Schloss Bellevue, the Federal President’s official residence in Berlin.

The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, established and supported by the German Federal Government, is an elite research organisation which promotes international co-operation between German HEIs and researchers from abroad. The reception for Humboldtians at Schloss Bellevue is an annual event dating back to 1955.

During her Humboldt Fellowship, Dr Brown is undertaking research on early modern cultural history. She is examining the usefulness of gender as a category of analysis, based on a study of women translators in early modern Germany.
