This summer, Dr Louise Hardwick, Reader in Francophone Postcolonial Studies, held a Visiting Fellowship awarded by the University of Oxford Women in the Humanities initiative, a flagship interdisciplinary programme run by TORCH (The Oxford Research Centre in the Humanities).
The Visiting Fellowship permitted Louise to spend time in Oxford while developing her research into the Caribbean filmmaker Euzhan Palcy, and to network with colleagues in Modern Languages, History and Gender Studies at Oxford with a view to future collaborations.
As part of her Fellowship, Louise also gave the invited keynote speech at the Oxford M.St in Women’s Studies annual graduate conference in May 2017 at TORCH. Her lecture was entitled: ‘Euzhan Palcy: Female Filmmaker, Caribbean Filmmaker, Black Filmmaker’.
