Leverhulme Fellow joins the Department of Music

Photograph of Erik NyströmErik Nyström will be joining the Department of Music as a Leverhulme Fellow in the autumn.

He is a composer working in the areas of acousmatic and live computer music, and sound installations. He has a special interest in spatial texture, multichannel composition, and synthesis.

He studied electroacoustic composition at City University London with Denis Smalley, undertaking his PhD research on the topic of Topology of Spatial Texture in the Acousmatic Medium. The work developed, in both practice and theory, an approach to spatiotemporal processes and structures in electroacoustic music, especially applicable to multichannel circumspatial compositions.

He performs frequently in the UK and internationally, in both live computer music and acousmatic contexts, and his music has been released on the label empreintes DIGITALes.
