becoming-researchers

Wednesday 28th February saw the inaugural 'Becoming Researchers Poster Showcase' for undergraduate students across the School. Students in various year groups from our three departments created and presented their research posters to an audience of students and staff, and talked at length about their fascinating work.

We were very impressed with the quality of the research posters and the excellent presentations, and extend our congratulations to all 11 participants, with special mention going to the winners (as voted for by the audience) who have received Amazon vouchers as prizes.

  • First place - Social Media Research Project by Sophie Cameron, Caitlin Anthony and Rose Taylor (Modern Languages, final year)
  • Second place - Women in Renaissance by Ksenia Ananyeva (History of Art, first year)
  • Third place - Social Media Research Project by Harry Frost, Mara Buddeke and Sarah Mirlacher (Modern Languages, final year)

Our students have said:
"The poster showcase has proven very beneficial for me as a student. I went away that evening and wrote almost half of my essay in two hours, since I'd had to present and explain the purpose of my project to various people over a two-hour period that same day. I would highly recommend the opportunity to other students." Final year student, BA Modern Languages
"It was very beneficial for me to hone my dissertations ideas down and feel more confident about my topic." Final year student, BMus Music
