twycross-zoo

Final-year students studying higher cognitive functions visited Twycross Zoo at the end of January.

As part of their final-year study our students are comparing the cognitive abilities of human children with other great apes, as well as crows and elephants. Twycross Zoo is a world primate centre and the only place in the UK where all four non-human great apes can be seen: chimpanzees, bonobos, orangutans and gorillas.

Visiting the zoo helped students plan for their research proposals as they tred to spot behaviours which might indicate social interactions or tool use.
