Leam Craig

In October Professor Leam Craig was appointed Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences (FAcSS) in recognition of his contributions to the social sciences.

The appointment followed an extensive peer review of the excellence and impact of his work through the use of social science for public benefit, including substantial contributions and leadership in higher education, government, public health and social policy, funding councils, charitable foundations and think tanks.

Professor Leam Craig, who is both a clinical and forensic psychologist and an academic researcher in forensic psychology, has researched the application of risk instruments and the assessment of clinical risk factors associated with sexual recidivism. He acts as an expert witness to civil and criminal courts in the assessment of sexual and violent offenders and in matters of child protection.  His work has led to collaborations with national and international criminal justice agencies including the South African Police Service and the United States Air Force – specifically in the assessment and management of sexual offenders. He is currently Consultant Lead to the National Probation Service Derbyshire working on the Offenders with Personality Disorder Pathway.
