Dr Lisa Bortolotti has been promoted to the post of Professor of Philosophy in the School of Philosophy, Theology, and Religion.

Lisa Bortolotti has done groundbreaking philosophical work on rationality and self-knowledge in psychopathology, delusions, and confabulation. She has also done excellent leading research more generally in a large number of topics in philosophy ranging from philosophy of cognitive science and mind to philosophy of science, biomedical ethics and research ethics. So far, she has published four books including Introduction to Philosophy of Science, Delusions and Other Irrational Beliefs (winner of the APA book prize), and two edited collections of articles entitled Philosophy and Happiness and Psychiatry as Cognitive Neuroscience. She has also published a large number of articles in top quality philosophical journals and edited collections of articles, and she has been awarded major research grants by AHRC, Wellcome Trust and other institutions.

Lisa has taught numerous undergraduate and postgraduate courses on philosophy of psychology, philosophy of cognitive science, philosophy of health and happiness, philosophy of mind, philosophy of science, research methods, and so on. She has in addition supervised a large number of philosophy projects, MA dissertations, and PhD theses and done a great deal of administrative work. We can only congratulate Lisa for all her achievements and for her Professorship!
