Philosophy research at Birmingham rated world-class in new rankings
The latest edition of the influential Philosophy Gourmet Report Specialty Rankings has confirmed the status of Philosophy at Birmingham as one of the world’s top research departments. In Philosophy of Mind, the Birmingham department scored highest of any UK department, and higher than Princeton, Yale and Stanford – only nine departments worldwide were ranked higher. In Epistemology, Birmingham ranked equal second in the UK, in Applied Ethics and also in Meta-Ethics and Moral Psychology equal third in the UK, in Metaphysics equal fifth in the UK (outscoring Cambridge and King’s), and in Philosophical Logic equal sixth in the UK.
