Sayyid Qutb is one of the pioneers of Islamic resurgence in the 70’s and 80’s. Qutb is predominantly known for his religious writings. As a thinker dealing with current Islamic affairs and as a commentator on the Quran, Qutb produced works that have made him one of the most prominent authorities among contemporary Islamists. The influence of his religious writings is not confined to his native place, Egypt, the wider Muslim world.

Whereas his religious writings are greatly studied, less is known about Qutb’s other intellectual activities, particularly his literary works. In his early years and before he changed his views to a more Islamic orientation, Qutb began his career as a man of letters who wrote scholarly and critical works on various literary issues.

The lecture is free to attend, however registration is required due to capacity.
